Everyone should have the right to travel, no matter their ability

The travel sector has been urged not to consider accessibility as an afterthought as research showed how disabled people face paying a £242 premium for travel insurance.

The Valuable 500, global collective of chief executives committed to disability inclusion, claimed the financial penalty of insurance that disabled customers face to go on holiday is another example of how people with disabilities are overlooked and underserved by the travel industry.

The research also considered other barriers disabled tourists face when travelling. These include a broad range of considerations, including time inequity, digital accessibility, a lack of disabled representation, lack of inclusive design, and lack of knowledge of disability and how to meet the needs of customers with disabilities.

Two in five disabled people face stressful and unsafe situations when travelling due to lack of accessibility. One fifth of disabled people reported feeling unsafe and scared when travelling and one in ten were not able to access a toilet.

“The global spending power of people with disabilities is estimated to be $13 trillion annually, so the business case for the travel industry to put accessibility first, and not as an afterthought is absolutely imperative".

Airlines move from a torrid summer to an uncertain winter

The Covid pandemic has taken the airline business through the worst nightmare imaginable over the last three years and whilst things looked up for the summer, circumstances conspired to make it a torrid season.

A progressive loosening of Covid travel restrictions began in late 2021 as first, US citizens were permitted to travel to Europe, followed a few weeks later by reciprocal rights for European travel to the US. Sporadic openings of a number of intra-European markets occurred but it looked like the doors were to be firmly shut again with the emergence of Omicron around the peak Christmas travel period. Only as it became clear that while more infectious, this strain was less virulent, did restrictions begin to be lifted with consistency around February-March of this year.

All appeared set for a promising summer with pent up demand ready to be unleashed. However, the timing of the lifting of restrictions was already well beyond the normal planning cycle for airlines and airports, with respect to manpower recruitment and training. Many have been badly caught out in what has turned out to be an extremely challenging period for the industry and its customers.

Inevitably, for such a long period with little or no revenues, unpredictable on-off travel restrictions, and a mixed impact of furlough job support schemes from governments, airlines had to let go many thousands of staff. The level of uncertainty was so great that airlines, by necessity, have been risk averse when it came to getting restarted. To get such a complex industry up and running again was always going to be difficult but just how difficult was unimaginable.

It’s frustrating that media coverage of the summer problems has been finger pointing, suggesting that problems have been localised and confined to only the airlines or airports of a specific country to which the media belong. The reality is that challenges have been witnessed in numerous countries around the world where traffic has recovered rapidly, ranging from the US and Canada to Europe to Australia.

Covid impact 'felt for decades to come'

The Covid public inquiry has asked to see B J's WhatsApp messages during his time as prime minister as part of its probe into decision-making.

Counsel for the inquiry, Hugo Keith KC, said the messages had been requested alongside thousands of other documents.

He said a major focus of this part of the inquiry was understanding how the "momentous" decisions to impose lockdowns and restrictions were taken.

The crisis placed "extraordinary levels of strain" on the UK's health, care, financial and educational systems and businesses, on top of individual bereavements.

He said its impact will be felt for "decades to come", adding: "The pandemic has led to financial and economic turmoil.

"It has disrupted economies and education systems and put unprecedented pressure on national health systems. Jobs and businesses have been destroyed and livelihoods taken away.

"The disease has caused widespread and long-term physical and mental illness, grief and untold misery.

"Its impact will be felt worldwide, including in the United Kingdom, for decades to come."

The identity of the core participants for this module were also unveiled.

These are the individuals and organisations which will have enhanced rights to see documents and make submissions.

Tui certifies sustainability of its tours in ‘industry-first’

Tui’s tours and activities division has unveiled a scheme to certify the sustainability credentials of its experiences.

Peter Ulwahn, Tui Musement chief executive, said the initiative, developed with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), is a first in the industry.

“We wanted to find a way to give customers sustainable choices for experiences and GSTC offers the best model,” he said.

Tui Musement has worked with GSTC for three years to create the scheme, which covers all the components of each experience, including transport and venues.

They compiled questions that cover environmental considerations such as carbon emissions, food waste and energy. The questions are sent to suppliers who undertake a full assessment, then Tui Musement’s staff ensure they match its criteria.

About 200 experiences have been certified in destinations such as Majorca, the Canaries, Turkey, the Dominican Republic and Croatia.

The first to be certified are in the Tui Collection, plus those offered in partnership with National Geographic.

Brits travelling to Spain can enter the country without having to prove their Covid or vaccination status, after travel restrictions were dropped.

Before, people needed to show they were fully-vaccinated, provide a negative Covid test or prove they had recently recovered.

The drop in the remaining Covid restrictions comes as families prepare to head off on half-term holidays.

Travel agents said a "final hurdle" for holidays had been removed.

Other European destinations such as France, Italy and Greece lifted their rules prior to Spain, which is the most popular destination for UK overseas holidaymakers.

Psychology Suggests Spontaneous Travel Trend Increases Happiness

It seems that Americans are becoming accustomed to travel’s unpredictability during the pandemic, as many are now embracing this era of uncertainty and exhibiting highly spontaneous behavior when heading off on their getaways.

Since, over the past two-and-a-half years, the effects of COVID-19 forced travelers to be more flexible in their plans and book their trips relatively last minute, some vacationers now appear to be taking that trend to the extreme. In fact, a spirit of spontaneity and flexibility is emerging as the new norm in travel.

Choosing to enjoy an impromptu break can be so liberating. She added, “Nothing is quite as thrilling as seeing a new place for the first time, and the excitement and instant gratification that comes with that.

“Whilst it may seem scary to just pack a bag and hop on a plane to take a chance on an unknown destination, you will psychologically benefit, as this creates a ‘can do’ attitude and will remind you of the limitless possibilities that are out there. And because you have no clear set agenda, or plans, every step you take will involve a sense of adventure, which is truly freeing."

We must focus on raising the profile of travel in Westminster

It’s safe to say that working in the travel industry is never dull! We move from one challenge to the next and, although I can’t say that we embrace it, we plough on and do our best to remain undefeated.

If anything, the pandemic has taught us how to be resilient.

We have come out the other side, weary but battle-hardened, ready in case something else is thrown at us...

It is still tough, although feedback from tour operators and travel agents alike is that they are very busy. The pent-up demand is very much front-of-house, and, despite the cost-of-living crisis, members are reporting that Aito travellers appear to be less-affected; they are now booking their much-postponed trips.

Many are planning to stay longer, which is encouraging from an environmental perspective, as their carbon footprint will be reduced by taking fewer, but longer, trips. Travellers are beginning to understand the importance of this...

Recruitment is still a big challenge for all businesses. What was once seen as an exciting industry to work in has lost some of its gloss, and thus some of its talent.

Some of those who left during the pandemic have missed travel and have come back to the sector. There is still, however, some gaping holes, and we need to work harder at promoting the sector as a good career – one that is still an exciting environment. Diversity, equality and inclusion are also at the centre of the recruitment challenge, and we need to encourage people, young and old alike, from across the spectrum, to recognise that there are many good roles for them in the travel sector. Many businesses have streamlined, and now realise that they need to employ experts; they are going for quality over quantity.

The next 30 years will be even more transformational for travel

As Priority Pass turns 30, we’ve collectively taken pause to look back at the last three decades and take stock of just how much the travel sector has changed. In that time, we’ve seen huge change – whether it’s the ban on smoking, biometric security measures, or significant shifts in physical security requirements. There have also been small changes which have had a big impact on travel experiences, such as digital boarding passes, onboard Wi-Fi, and personal in-flight entertainment screens, all of which are now largely commonplace. It has been eventful times and a lot has progressed in the last three decades.

During this time, Collinson has gone from a small team of travel enthusiasts looking to improve airport experience, to a global team providing access to over 1,300 airport lounges and travel experiences around the world.

Yet, despite all the innovation and change we’ve seen already, it does feel like the next 30 years will be even more transformational for the travel sector. I’m increasingly conscious of the importance of the travel sector collectively working together to understand what will be truly meaningful and memorable to travellers of the future and how we fully realise that reality.

We have started to talk about our industry’s shift into navigating the so called ‘experience economy’ – travel is inherently about experiences after all, whereby each interaction on a traveller’s journey should feel authentic, personalised, and connected.

Travel’s Armageddon – cancelled or postponed?

I love the optimism of the travel industry, but you would have to be an ostrich with your head in the sand not to realise the travel sector, like the hospitality and hairdressing industries, were heading towards ‘Armageddon’, given the weakness of businesses’ balance sheets post the Covid-19 disruption.

Revisit staff costs. Covid-19 removed most of the ‘fat’ from travel companies so any further cuts will be highly painful. It’s time to let senior people go and be prepared to roll up your sleeves. get involved and invest in junior staff to make up the deficit.

Consider your location.

The future may not be bright, but as in any crisis, those who evolve and adapt will be the winners. Don’t put your head in the sand. Instead, create a prosperity plan that acknowledges the risks the future poses. Opportunity knocks!

Cheetah: World's fastest cat returns to India after 70 years

Cheetahs are set to roam in India for the first time since they were declared officially extinct in 1952.

A group of eight cats arrived from Namibia on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on Saturday.

They will undergo a month-long quarantine before being released in a national park in central India.

Cheetahs formerly shared jungles with other big cats like lions and tigers but disappeared 70 years ago.

They are the world's fastest land animals, capable of reaching speeds of 70 miles (113km) an hour.

This is the first time a large carnivore is being moved from one continent to another and being reintroduced in the wild. Wildlife experts, veterinary doctors and three biologists accompanied the animals as they made the transcontinental journey in a modified passenger Boeing 747 plane.

Union warns long hours and passenger abuse causing airport staff to quit

Airport staff are working 60-hour weeks to cover labour shortages, but abuse from angry passengers is driving increasing numbers to quit, making further disruption this summer “inevitable”.

That is according to the Unite union which had warned many staff are “at the end of their tether”.

The union called on passengers “to treat workers with respect” as demand ratchets up with the start of the school holidays in England and Wales this weekend.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The aviation sector is being held together by the sticking plaster of excessive overtime.

This is simply not sustainable.

“Many existing staff are leaving and those who remain are becoming exhausted and ill due to the long hours and stress.”

Aerospace charts a future without jet fuel

From a small office overlooking an airfield, once home to the UK's first Spitfire squadron, a tiny British start-up is hoping to make a little history of its own - as one of the pioneers of commercial electrified aviation.

Faradair is planning to develop and sell a hybrid-electric passenger plane, aimed at the regional aviation market. It would have up to 19 seats and would be propelled by a fan driven by an electric motor. The necessary electricity would be provided by a small gas turbine.

In order to provide extra lift, and allow take-offs and landings from short runways, it would also have a triple level wing. This would give it a passing resemblance to a World War One fighter, despite having state-of-the-art aerodynamics.

The Faradair design, he says, would allow short hops between cities such as London and Manchester for £25 each way - less than the cost of a rail ticket.

In more remote or inaccessible regions, meanwhile, such planes could provide a transport lifeline from small airstrips, avoiding the need for major investments in road or rail lines.

It plans to have the aircraft flying by 2025 with commercial use starting in 2027.

Don’t be afraid to look outside the sector for talent

Our industry is facing challenges with staffing shortages, following 62 million tourism related jobs being lost in 2020/21 because of the pandemic.

We need to look outside our industry. We need to showcase our industry to all students, so they see the “size of the opportunity” with the variety of roles that are available.

Think about the talent within our sector, we have people running businesses that started out as a travel agent, call centre agent or an overseas rep!

Is the travel industry COOL?

Sharing the ‘size of the prize’ is critical if we are to attract new talent. In our industry there are no fixed rules, if you have the ability to rise through the ranks the opportunities are there.

U.S. has Dropped COVID-19 Testing Requirement for Travelers Entering the Country

The new rule came in to effect at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday.12th June.

The Biden administration dropped COVID-19 testing requirements for travelers entering the country over the weekend, eliminating the testing rule that has been in place for more than a year.

The new rule went into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The decision follows lobbying by the travel industry, including airlines, who pressured the administration to drop testing rules. It also comes on the heels of several other countries eliminating pandemic-era entry restrictions.

The U.S. now joins several countries around the world that have dropped pre-departure testing and other COVID-19-related travel restrictions, including Italy, which lifted all pandemic-era travel rules earlier this month. The United Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, and Croatia have also dropped all COVID-19-related rules, while Canada has eliminated pre-arrival testing for vaccinated travelers.

"Today marks another huge step forward for the recovery of inbound air travel and the return of international travel to the United States," Dow said in a statement provided to T L. "The Biden administration is to be commended for this action, which will welcome back visitors from around the world and accelerate the recovery of the U.S. travel industry.

Travel is at a crossroads and there’s no turning back

You can see it and feel it, all around us. It is simply wonderful. The travel world is on the move. Finally. Freely. Festively.

With immense excitement and expectation, travellers are once again taking to the skies, streets, rivers and even seas, turning their long pent-up desire and anticipation into action. And as they venture north, south, east, and west, it is very easy to feel a sense of massive celebration. we need to be conscious of the fact that when we travel, we are always guests in someone’s home, someone’s city, someone’s life.

This means that as we experience the celebration of the gift of travel once more, we must not lose sight of gratitude for this gift, nor of the opportunity to make a meaningful, measurable impact.

Celebrating the return of travel deserves to be honoured, but this celebration must come hand in hand with gratitude in our hearts, for the blessing of being able to travel once more. We need to be honest; we need to be humble, and we need to act together to ensure that every day, on every itinerary, we book every guest with a commitment to fulfil their travel dreams in a way that makes travel matter.

We need to stand up for our sector...ministers come out with such an ill-educated blame or lack of understanding about the state of our industry post Covid – throwing the industry under the bus essentially...

The industry must stand together to counter negative perceptions.

An intense couple of days of handling media interviews, following the ‘travel chaos’ headlines that we have all witnessed this last week, has left me feeling, once again, deeply frustrated, yet even more certain of the need to form an Outbound Travel Forum that speaks on behalf of the UK travel industry. One that is represented at the highest levels within government and across the political spectrum.

The impact of the outbound travel industry from both an economic and social perspective is now widely documented; just pick up any front-page tabloid today and you’ll see how our industry is perceived: ‘Tears and Fury as Travel Carnage Worsens’, ‘Holiday Madness’.

‘Huge opportunity for tour operators,’ says Etoa chief

Ongoing challenges post-Covid and the war in Ukraine are making the role of tour operators more valuable than ever, a New Deal Europe trade event was told this week.

“This is an environment for tour operators. This is something that I know the members of Etoa will be grabbing with both hands because we have a huge opportunity here. There’s massive pent-up demand in origin markets for everywhere, including the Balkans.”

Jenkins said the current logistical difficulties airlines, airports and operators are facing is an indication that travel is resuming after two years of hibernation and “creaking back into action”.it was “remarkable” how little impact the war in Ukraine is having on business. He described the impact as “contained” and “geographically localised” and said it was “stupid” to assume poor geographic knowledge of travellers was causing them to panic.

“This is contained within Ukraine. You are looking at something that is seen as being localised in contrast to terrorism which is seen as general and a threat to everyone,” he said.

Hanney agreed that Covid has made travellers more resilient and determined to go on holiday and that the war’s impact is less than it would have been in any other year before the pandemic.

And she said it was more important than ever for the industry to use its reach on social and in the media to get the message across about what it is actually like on the ground.

“I know people in your region are welcoming, always. people are so happy to see our guests.

“It’s really important that we all make sure those good stories are everywhere because that’s helping bookings and people who are on the fence to be a little bit more confident about making that booking.”

Travel firms struggle to retain ‘battle-weary’ staff

Travel firms are struggling to retain staff who are “battle-weary” after working through the pandemic and now want to leave the sector.

The Travel Network Group chief executive Gary Lewis said the staffing crisis was the “number-one conversation”

He estimated there had “probably been more resignations in the last three months” than during the Covid crisis because staff were “worn out”.

Travel industry staff who worked through the pandemic were forced to work long hours to manage bookings that had to be cancelled, amended and refunded. Staff often had to deal with angry or upset guests/customers.

Agents have also had to navigate complicated and ever-changing Covid travel restrictions during one of the most challenging periods for the travel sector, when many of their colleagues were furloughed.

“The crisis is about existing people leaving because they’ve gone through two years of being battered.

Those that have left may not necessarily come back.”

"We need to make travel an “attractive career” again, adding that more travel and tourism courses were also needed".

It’s up to us to spur people to take the plunge

We need to bring the many benefits of travel to life for our customers...It’s perhaps easy to forget the benefits that travel brings us and our customers and how important it is that we get people moving again.

The risk of Covid is no greater at an airport, on a plane, in a resort or on a ship than anywhere else in the world. We have to help our customers get out of the bubble of fear that has been created over the past two years and to realise that we all benefit by getting out into the world again. The world needs people to get travelling again.

There areeconomies which rely on tourism spend. There are individuals whose whole livelihood is based on us taking people away.

And for travellers, there’s the eye-opening element of seeing and experiencing something new and different and finding out more about our world. There is the life-affirming aspect of having amazing experiences as we travel around the world.

The sheer exhilaration of skiing down a beautifully groomed slope with Mont Blanc as a backdrop; the views as you round a corner on a European river and see a tableau of castles, vineyards and forests laid out before you; the sunset over a pride of lions snoozing alongside a herd of elephants by a watering hole; the roar of surf against a sun-drenched white-sand beach; the sense of wonder when overlooking a beautiful city at night from a rooftop bar with a cocktail and a gentle warm breeze; or the awe of seeing an iconic view such as Sydney Opera House or Niagara Falls for the first time.

All of these amazing sensations are only possible if you travel. There are countless more incredible sights, sounds and smells that we have missed and need to bring to life for our customers.

They are ready to travel again, the world is ready for them and we need to be encouraging them to take the plunge and get out and enjoy the world.

Employers who looked after staff will now thrive

I’m not sure if the past two years could have been any more dramatic.

First there was a global pandemic, and now we’re seemingly hovering on the brink of World War Three.

The pandemic has been painful for everyone in the travel industry in every way: financially, emotionally, mentally . . . I could go on. And the war has been tough to take for anyone with any ounce of compassion. It’s anxiety-inducing for all of us and a very tough thing to watch on the news each day. The outcome, of course, remains unknown.

And as if this wasn't already enough to deal with, our industry faces another challenge as we hunt for talented new workers. Some businesses are even struggling to recruit any new employees at all, regardless of knowledge and experience.

Many people have left travel. Some have been forced out by redundancy. Others simply lost the love for it as they started to find it all too challenging. It’s so sad.

I have long described my staff as the ‘Crown Jewels’ of my business. I very quickly realised that the best way to bring success was to recruit great people and, when you get them, to cherish them and treat them with respect and support them in every way you can.

Our industry is always one to watch but over the next 12 months, the gap between the winners and losers will widen – driven by those with the Crown Jewels and those without.

Althams Travel to switch to four day week to improve work-life balance

Althams Travel is to move staff to a four-day working week while retaining existing salaries in a bid to create a better work-life balance.

The radical move by the travel agency, which has 200 staff and operates 31 branches across Lancashire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, will be in place from April 1.

It follows a pledge pre-Covid by managing director Sandra McAllister to improve the work-life balance for the company’s workforce. She believes it will help the company retain and attract more staff.

“You only have one life and I think work plays a huge part in that life but my ethos is that you don’t live to work, you work to live a better life.

“We asked them – could you give me five days’ productivity in four days, could you up the output? Overwhelmingly they promised that they could.”

She added that having staff working four days would also open up more vacancies and help in terms of local unemployment...

Travel sector must ‘work harder’ to attract staff back

Employers have admitted they will have to ‘work harder’ to attract staff back to the travel industry and say a caring work culture will be vital.

As holiday demand increases, hundreds of employees are being sought by travel firms looking to bring their workforces back up to the size they were pre-pandemic.

But agents and tour operators have reported difficulty attracting skilled staff amid a national recruitment crisis. “We need to remind people why they used to work in travel and then work hard on attracting those with the right skills to return or to join the industry for the first time.

”Employers had to demonstrate a caring culture in the workplace to attract staff"."

“Travel excels in rewards, culture and recognition – three things that are very important for prospective candidates.

“Priorities have changed since the pandemic and people do want a much greater work-life balance – but they also want to work for a company that can demonstrate ethical values and cares deeply about its people.

As well as traditional travel perks such as fam trips and holiday discounts, the company’s wellness programme, sustainability committee, training and development opportunities will pay a “central role” in recruitment messaging,

“Travel is the most powerful way we can open our hearts, minds, and eyes to the beauty of the world..."

G Adventures founder calls for unity

The founder of G Adventures, Bruce Poon Tip, has made a passionate plea for peace.

As well as cancelling 66 departures in Russia, G Adventures will no longer accept Russian nationals residing inside Russia on its trips, nor will it take bookings from Russian agencies.

In a statement on the situation in Ukraine, Poon Tip said: “I stand with Ukraine. I stand for freedom and democracy.”

He added that “travel can be the fastest path to peace” and urged people to continue travelling to “foster connection and understanding between different countries and communities”.

“Travel is the most powerful way we can open our hearts, minds, and eyes to the beauty of the world, especially in the darkest of times,” he wrote.

“Let us continue to stand together, for peace.”

It’s as though we’ve learned nothing in the past 75 years – I would have hoped we had learned from our collective experience. The past two years we have been living through a global pandemic that has caused physical separation for millions around the world. For the first time in our lifetime, we faced a common enemy, which gave us the opportunity to bring humanity together in a shared mission to eradicate the virus. We should have emerged shoulder to shoulder, more unified, compassionate and empathetic than ever before. And yet, here we are, on the precipice of a more dangerous chapter of our civilized history, driven purely by the need to divide.

Agents and operators have battled to recruit staff while working long hours to keep up with demand since sales ramped up last month.

Airline chiefs demand return to ‘restriction-free’ international travel

Restriction-free international travel should be immediately restored “at the very least” for the fully vaccinated, UK airline bosses have urged the government today (Monday).

In a letter to health secretary Sajid Javid, they argue that international travel is one of the few areas where there is no return to normal yet. The letter is signed by the heads of British Airways, EasyJet, Jet2, Loganair, Ryanair, Tui, Virgin Atlantic and trade body Airlines UK.

In it they put forward three key demands to “finally return air travel to near normality:”

Deliver restriction-free travel, at the very least, for fully vaccinated travellers now;

Implement a clear protocol for managing future variants that brings stability back into international travel and promotes traveller confidence, through the targeted and transparent use of a red list, and without recourse to knee-jerk universal testing or hotel quarantine;

Rule out border closures and flight bans in response to future variants of concern.

“These measures would send the strongest possible signal that the UK has turned a corner, is truly looking to live alongside the virus, and is mobilising its world-beating aviation sector to turbo-boost our recovery and deliver Global Britain,”

“The recovery of the UK’s aviation industry is vital; not just to the more than half a million people working in it, but to everyone who lives and works in the UK.”

AND it Comes With Spectacular Views, Seafood Stops, and Charming Small Towns

The route loops around Canada's scenic Prince Edward Island. Avid hikers have another reason to visit Canada's eastern coast in 2022. Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), affectionately known as "Canada's Food Island," is inviting travelers to circumnavigate its idyllic shoreline by foot on The Island Walk. The 435-mile trail, which opened last September, loops around the perimeter of the country's smallest province — and with plenty of stops at sandy beaches, scenic viewpoints, and charming small towns, it has something for everyone.

Suited for both seasoned hikers and casual walkers of all ages, The Island Walk features a mix of coastal sections, much of the historic Confederation Trail, red dirt roads, and peaceful streets. With grades no steeper than 2%, the entire loop takes about 32 days to complete (when walking 12 to 15 miles per day), but travelers can start or stop anywhere along the way.

As more people look to connect with nature and embrace slow travel, the new trail — inspired by other walking pilgrimages around the world — has opened at a good time.

The Island Walk will give you the time to slow down and be present in your thoughts and daily journey, while experiencing the simple beauty of the island around you.

There is still time for the slopes

Many British skiers must currently feel like me… we’ve missed one or even two seasons on the slopes, and we’re getting itchy.

On top of that, the season is in full swing...Over the festive period, Switzerland welcomed back more winter sports enthusiasts from across Europe, and our experience of being the only Alpine country to open our ski areas last winter means we have valuable experience of operating a safe skiing environment.

There are other ways to recover from the last two years and reconnect with loved ones beyond skiing, and specialists can tempt clients with everything from snow-shoeing or winter hiking to relaxing in one of the many Alpine spas.

But it’s skiing we missed the most, ideally followed by a hearty meal at a mountain-top restaurant, together with the locals.

The season has only just begun, and with more snow on the way, the pristine mountain air, blue skies and ample sunshine is what we all need right now.

As the 2022 new moon will bring in the Year of the Tiger, beloved character Tigger will be a leading reveler at the festival. And of course, at the front of "Mulan's Lunar New Year Celebration" will be Mulan herself and Mushu as they honor family and friendship, and fortune for the coming year.

Other Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie, the Three Little Pigs, and Raya from the new Disney film "Raya and the Last Dragon" will also appear at the celebration.

The festival will be a mouthwatering sampling of California's best culinary experiences from across the state's iconic regions and neighborhoods.
